Layer (journalism)
In the written press, the layer is a unit which makes it possible to give an indication length to the journalist for the writing of his article. A layer represents 25 lines of 60 signs, that is to say 1.500 signs or characters (spaces included/understood).
This concept is capital for the journalists Pigiste S since often, those are paid with the number of layers.
The tariff varies much from one publication to another: in 2003 in France, the tariffs varied from 7 to 240 euros the layer.
