Latil
Latil is a French Entreprise which designed and built various vehicles (Automobile S, Camionnette S, Camion S, Tracteur S, Autocar S as well as agricultural, forest and colonial Châssis) between 1897 and 1955.
History
The company LATIL was created by Georges LATIL, be born in 1878, deceased in 1961, Engineer Marseillais, which exploited the idea of its vehicle with the company " Before-train-LATIL".
The continuation of manufacture and marketing was continued by various companies: the company " Charles BLUM & Cie" , the company " Automobile Industrialists Latil " , company LRS SAVIEM, the company " LATIL BATIGNOLLES" , and finally the company " BRIMONT".
In 1897, Latil, patented the principle of a Transmission making it possible to actuate the at the same time driving and direct Roues, named process: The Latil Front-axle unit. And a year later, it started to build Voiture S, and also it developed front traction on the Camion Blum-Latil.
In 1908, Georges Latil and Charles Blum, founded the French Company of Mechanics and Car, with Levallois-Perret.
In 1912, Charles Blum, created a distinct company, the General Company of Automobile Companies (CGEA), to exploit the technology of the Latil Front-axle unit, by modernizing Chariot S. In 1913, Latil conceives the TAR, a Tracteur 4x4 to tractor draw the machines of Artillerie Militaire. In 1914, Georges Latil, formed the Company of the Industrial Cars Latil, with Suresnes. And the new firm specialized in the tractors all driving wheels. In 1915, the range included trucks from 1.5 to 10 ton S of payload. In 1919, the firm offers also Véhicule S for municipal services.
In 1924, the company built a new tractor for the exploitation Agricole, forest and public works. Also in 1929, Latil put of the Tire S at tire tube on its range of vehicles.
In 1930, Latil produced engines with heavy oil Gardner under license. Also Georges Latil was decorated on March 6th, 1930 with the Rank with Knight of the Légion of honor.
From 1932 to 1937, the Latil trucks were built under license with the the United Kingdom by Shelvoke and Drewry under the mark Traulier.
In 1936, Latil presented a new model, m2 A1 B3, with 4.5 tons of payload, Moteur with Essence of 4 Cylindre S. This vehicle is intended for the Autobus and the Fourgon S.
In 1939, George Latil yielded her company to Charles Blum.
In 1946, the firm presents four series of trucks to the living room of Paris:
- A truck carrying 6 tons PTAC, - A tractor for Trailer S of 14 tons PTRA, - A farm tractor and Forest. These three models were provided with a Diesel engine of 4 cylinders of 80 Chevaux, a manual transmission with 5 Rapport S, and of Frein S with Compressed air.
- And a truck carrying 15 tons payload, with a diesel engine of 6 cylinders.
In 1948, a new truck with Cabin advanced, was produced name of H2F A1 Y10, with a diesel engine of 8.3 Liter S of 6 cylinders, 120 horses, of a transmission of 8 speeds, 26 tons payload, and configuration of 6x2.
In 1954, Latil offered another truck, named H16 A1 B8 has, with diesel engine with injection direct, of 6 cylinders, 150 horses, a box at 10 speeds, air-operated brakes, of a payload of 10 tons, in configuration of 4x2, and with two footings of 3.5 Mètre S and 5 meters are available.
In 1955, Latil forms group LRS Saviem (Public limit company of Industrial Vehicles and Mechanical Equipment), with Renault, and Somua (Mechanical Company of Tools and Artillery Machining), with like first chairman (general President-director) Mister Pierre Lemaigre, last chairman of Latil.
In 1963, the Company of the Forging mills and Ateliers of the Creusot-Loire and the Schneider Factory are combined to form the Company Latil Batignolles. To acquire the rights and to market the agricultural and forest Latil tractors. The new firm manufactures also a model of Lifting truck with fork, name of Armax. In 1974, Marcel Brimont of Rheims-Prunay of company BRIMONT S.A., taken possession of the new company.
