Lasseube is a common French, located in the department of the Yrénées-Atlantiques and the area Aquitaine.

The commune is crossed by the Baïse (which is thrown in the Gave of Pau) and its affluents:

The brook the Auronce, affluent of the Gave d' Ossau, also sprinkles the territory of the commune.

Toponymy

In Gascon the seube ( the seuva ), of Latin silva , means “the forest”. The toponym Lasseube appears in the forms Sylvæ (1305, titles of Béarn), Seube d' Escot (1385, censier of Béarn), Laseube (1434, notaries of Oloron), Seuba (1540, reformation of Béarn).

History

In 1385, Lasseube counted 12 fires and depended on the Bailliage of Oloron.
