Lawrence Thomas Murphy (born the March 8th 1961 with Scarborough in the Ontario) was a Canadian player professional of Hockey.

Its career

Larry Murphy was selected with the Repêchage of entry in the LNH 1980 with the first turn (4th choice on the whole) by the Kings of Los Angeles. It had evolved/moved for two seasons in the frankness from Petes de Peterborough of the league of hockey of Ontario (Ontario Hockey League).

During its first season, it establishes a new record of the greatest number of decisive master keys and points for a defender in his first year with 60 master keys and 76 points. It finishes this season fourth better pointer of the team and passes from little beside the Trophée Calder gained by Peter Stastny of the Nordiques of Quebec.

It gains the Coupe Stanley with Red Wings during the first two seasons under its new colors (1997 and 1998).

After 21 seasons in the LNH, Murphy will have played for 6 different franknesses and will have taken part in 1.615 matches and puts an end to its career to the 40 years age. The 1.615 matches are a record for a defender in the league and will be only exceeded by Scott Stevens of the Devils of the New Jersey during the Saison LNH 2003-04.

It allowed with the Temple of was re-elected hockey in 2004 and with its 1.216 points in career, it is the 5th best pointer behind among the defenders of all times: Ray Bourque, Paul Coffey, Al MacInnis and Phil Housley.
