Largest Belgians

the largest Belgians is a televised program diffused in 2005 by the the One (television channel of the French Communauté of Belgium). It is based on the principle of the emission of BBC 100 Greatest Britons: a vote is organized to know the largest Belgian of all time.

Actually, two emissions were diffused: the largest Belgians for French-speaking television and De Grootste Belg for Flemish television. There are thus two larger Belgians : Jacques Brel is the largest Belgian according to the French-speaking people whereas the Père Damien is the largest Belgian according to Flemish. To complicate still a little more gives it, the Belgian daily newspaper of press Dutch-speaking Het Nieuwsblad also organized a vote: Belg der Belgen (the Père Damien was the largest Belgian with 40% of the voices).
