Lansdowne Road

Lansdowne Road is the stage which shelters mainly the meetings of the XV of the Clover for the Rugby and of the Équipe of Ireland of football.

The stage is in the district of Ballsbridge at Dublin. Of a capacity of 50.500 spectators, it accommodates 48.000 unconditional at the time of the matches of Rugby of Ireland and only 36.000 for the football games to comply with the rules of FIFA which oblige to have only sitted places.

The stage also accommodates in a specific way the Leinster, mainly at the time of meetings of Coupe of Europe of Rugby.

In 2004, Lansdowne Road also accommodated two matches of cut of Europe of the Shelbourne FC: against the Deportivo Corogne in third preliminary round of League of the Champions and against Lille out of cut UEFA.

The stage, built in 1872, contains only two covered platforms and still has seats out of wooden. It also has the characteristic to have a railway line passing under the presidential platform; the station of lansdowne being Road a little further.

It is expected that the stage is shaven starting from 2007 to leave the place to a new stage ultramoderme of a capacity of 55.000 spectators. During this period, the meetings held on the two selections of football and Rugby will be déroulereront, and this for the first time of the history, in the temple of the Football Gaelic of Croke Park of a capacity of 82.500 spectators.
