Land Registry
The Land Registry is an administrative and tax French institution of the Head office of the taxes (DGI). There are 354 in France.
It has a tax mission which consists in charging the rights and taxes of recording of the notarial acts (land publicity). The procedure of recording is an administrative procedure, which confers on the acts published only one presumption of proof.
Moreover it ensures a land and patrimonial mission, while publishing and by preserving all the existing rights on the Immeuble S (constraint, Hypothèque, usufruct…). Any person who makes the request of it can obtain to information on the patrimonial situation people or the legal situation of buildings.
The whole of the contained informations in the acts subjected to recording is transcribed in the real file. It was created by decree 55-22 of January 4th 1955. It is composed for each commune and described the legal situation of each piece and building.

In the three departments of Alsace and the Moselle, the Land Registry does not exist and the various functions which it fills in the remainder of France are provided via the land Livre.
