Lake Couchiching

The Lake Couchiching , which rises from the name ojibwé goojijiing meaning " entrée" is a small lake in the south of the Ontario to the Canada which is separated from the lake Simcoe by a narrow channel. The inland waterway the Trent-Severn enters the lake Simcoe by the river Talbot and arises from the lake Couchiching by the river Severn towards the bay Géorgienne which belongs to the Lake Huron. The lake is approximately 16 km length on 5 km broad for an average depth of approximately 6 meters.

The town of Orillia is located along the channel connecting the two lakes. The two lakes are popular for fishing in summer and winter (Fishing on ice).

The singer-type-setter Gordon Lightfoot pays homage to the lake in his song Couchiching .
