Léo Kanner
Leo Kanner (June 13rd 1894 with Klekotow in Austria - April 4th 1981) is a known pédopsychiatre to have defined the clinical picture of the early Autisme infantile.
It finishes its studies with the Université of Berlin in 1919. It makes its boarding school then, then becomes resident until in 1922 with the hospital of the Charity of Berlin.
He emigrates with the the United States where he obtains the American title of doctor of medicine and a specialization delivered by the American Board off Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry . Between 1924 and 1928 it exerts like Senior Assisting at the hospital of state of Yankton in the South Dakota. Starting from 1930, he is psychiatric director of private clinic to the John Hopkins Hospital of Baltimore, and this until its departure with the retirement in 1959.
Between 1963 and 1969, it is consulting with the Children' S Guild Clinical .
He in parallel carries on an activity of teaching to the Université Johns Hopkins between 1932 and 1959.
In 1943, it off writes an article entitled Autistic Disturbance Emotional Contact (Nerv. Child, 1943,2,217-250), where it shows starting from 11 cases of children followed since 1938 that several disorders which were dispersed before under variable names form only one disease.
Name “infantile Autism early” is given the following year ( Early Infantile Autism , J. Pediat, 1944, 25,211-217) to the syndrome which bears its name (Autism of Kanner)
