Lélio

Lélio was one of the characters of the old Italian comedy.

The character of Lélio was that of in love happy, liked that which he liked, always pleasant, merry, of good mood, with a point of comic.

This character was held in Paris with a rare distinction by various artists, inter alia by Riccoboni, which obtained there great successes and which deserved them by its talent, its grace, its elegance and its happy aspect. Molière introduced the figure of Lélio into two of its comedies, Thoughtless the and the imaginary Cuckold . Marivaux employed it in its Second Surprised love and its Prince disguised .
