Końskowola

Końskowola is a village of the south-east of the Poland populated 2  188 inhabitants between Puławy and Lublin on the river Kurówka. It is located in the commune (in Polish Gmina ) of Końskowola and the district (in Polish Powiat ) puławski, which is an administrative subdivision of the Voïvodie de Lublin.

History

The village was probably founded at the 14th century century under the name Witowska Wola. The current name dates from the 19th century.

The June 8th 1532, the city is built-in. Końskowola was an important food distribution center local. One also found there many Manufacture S of Textile. Many people coming from the remainder of the Poland but also of Saxony emigrated in the city.

Since then, its history is related to that of all the area. After the third partition of Poland in 1795, the city is annexed by the Austria. In 1809, it belongs to the Duché of Warsaw for finally belonging to the Kingdom of Poland in 1815. After the revolt of January, in 1870, the city loses the statute of city definitively. During the Russian Revolution of 1905, many demonstrations and strikes of solidarity were organized. In 1918, the city is reinstated in the Poland.

The September 15th 1939, Końskowola is taken by the German troops and remains occupied until the July 25th 1944. A prison camp and another of work are installed by the Nazi S in the city. The first closes quickly, the second open remainder until in 1943. A Ghetto populated Juif S mainly originating in Slovakia is also established. In October 1942, population of the ghetto (of 800 with 1  000 people) is liquidated. Among it women and children were.
