Comment
This film is certainly the most faithful adaptation of the cycle arthurien. Admittedly, to make hold in two hours the very bulky literary work inherited the Moyen-âge was not simple but the spectator arises while knowing, in his broad outlines if not the details, the history of Arthur and his principal knight, Lancelot.
As in almost all films on the subject, castles, decorations and costumes (in particular armours and lances) are those of the 14th century (in other words, of the Guerre One hundred Year old, rather well-known universe of the general public), which represents a shift of approximately eight centuries with the historical events of origin (if one showed Jeanne d' Arc Orleans attacker in behavior leopard, one would make an error approximately twice less!) but it is true that positioning in time is difficult since the literary text retranscribed in the mentality and the social decoration of the 12th century what would have occurred to 5th.
Contrary to its successors, it does not comprise special effects.
This pleasant film, well done and easy to follow was a deserved success and passes rather regularly on television.
