Kličevac

Kličevac , in Serb Cyrillic Кличевац, is a locality of Serbia located in the municipality of Požarevac, district of Braničevo. In 2002, it counted: 1329 inhabitants.

Kličevac, officially classified among the village of Serbia, is located at 25km Požarevac and 8km of the archeological site of the Roman city of Viminacium, close to the current town of Kostolac. The archaeological excavations put at the day an urban complex, formed of broad streets, luxurious villas, public baths and of an amphitheater. This complex was recently opened with the public.

History

In 1881, excavations carried out with Kličevac put at the day of the prehistoric objects going back to the Bronze Age (1 500 to 1.000 before Jesus Christ. Among these objects " appeared; the Idol of Kličevac " , a female terra cotta figurine. This statuette, deposited with the National museum of Belgrade, was destroyed during the Austrian bombardments on the town of Belgrade.
