Kinechma

Kinechma (Russian: Кинешма ) is a town of Russia of 93.400 inhabitants (2006) located at 400 km in the North-East of Moscow in the oblast (area) of Ivanovo. The city is spread out over 15 km along bank of right-hand side of the the Volga. It is the second city of the oblast by the size.

Kinechma is quoted for the first time in 1429 like a Posad. With 16th and 17th century, the aglommeration is an important center of fishing which provides the Esturgeon S of the table of the Tsar. In 1608 Kinechma is devastated with 2 recoveries by the Polish.

Since the 18th century the principal industry of the city; like the other textile centers of Russia, the prosperity of the city strongly declined since the Pérestroïka.

The principal monument of the city is the cathedral of the Trinity built between 1838 and 1845 daN the neo-classic style. There exist also several churches of the 18th century.
