Kelzang Gyatso

Kelzang Gyatso (Tibetan: བསྐལ ་ བཟང ་ རྒྱ ་ མཚོ ་, Wylie: Bskal-bzang Rgya-mtsho , Pinyin: Gaisang Gyaco) (1708 - 1757) was the 7th Dalaï Lama and large a scholastic, meditating, author and mystical Tibetan. It is said that he was recognized thanks to a poem of 6th Dalaï LAMA. He lived one moment great turbulences in Central Asia. It is the end of the influence of the Mongolian Empire with the Tibet; on the other hand, the domination of the Manchu Empire is reinforced.

Retrospectively, the Tibetans believe that Tsangyang Gyatso predicted its own rebirth with Litang in the Kham when he wrote this song:

white Crane, beautiful bird

lends to me your wings!

I from do not go away far:

One day I will return, by the way of Lithang

The 7th Dalaï Lama was born in 1708 from Sonam Dargya and Lobsang Chotso with Litang, 2 years after the disappearance of the 6th Dalaï Lama. With the Monastery of Thupten Jampaling, founded with Litang by the 3rd Dalaï Lama, one was astonished by the wonders of the child. Oracles of State of Litang had predicted that the newborn would be the reincarnation of the Dalaï Lama precedent. However because of the agitated political situation, they could not escort new Dalaï Lama with Lhassa, and it was accommodated with the monastery of Kumbum, where it was ordered monk by Ngawang Lobsang Tenpai Gyaltsen.

In 1720, it was established with the Palais of Potala and received the wishes of monk beginner of the Panchen LAMA, Lobsang Yeshe, which gave him the Buddhist name of Kelsang Gyatso. In 1726, during the favorable month of Saga Dawa, it accepted the wishes of Gelong (the ordinance supplements) Panchen LAMA. It have as professor the Panchen LAMA Lobsang Yeshe, the Abbot of the Monastery of Gyumey and the Abbot of the Monastery of Shalu, Ngawang Yonten, from which it learned the major Buddhist philosophical treaties, and controlled the whole of will soutras and of will tantras.

In 1751, at the 43 years age, it constituted the “Kashag” or the Council of Ministers to manage the government Tibetan and abolished the post office of regent or " Desi" , which gave too many being able in the hands of only one man. Dalaï Lama became the leading spiritual one and policy of the Tibet. At 45 years, it founded the school of Tse located at the top Palais of Potala and built the palate of summer of Norling Kalsang Phodrang to Norbulingka. The school of Tse formed the executives of the government of Tibet. The graduates of this school which wanted to work in the public office was to undergo a more thorough drive in a religious school. The laic civils servant were mainly trained at the school of Tse.

First mark of relations inter-nuns which will reappear at the XXe century, the pope Benoît XIV writes a letter for the 7th Dalaï Lama which it gives to the father Orazio Della Penna.

The 7th Dalaï Lama was a large well-read man. He wrote many books, especially on will tantras. He was also a large poet who, contrary to Tsangyang Gyatso, related to the spiritual topics. Its simple life and without spot gained the hearts of all the Tibetans. He died in 1757.
