Kedah
The Kedah (Jawi: قدح) is a state of the North-West of the Malaysia, with the limit of the Perlis, of Penang, Perak, Kelantan and Province of Songkhla in Thailand, in north.
Alor Star, capital and more big city is followed by Sungai Petani and Kuala Kedah. Kuah is the capital of the island of Langkawi.
Population
In 1995 the population broke up as follows: Malayan (1 079.300/72%), Chinese (235 500/19%), Indians (105 800/8%), others (24 200), others Bumiputra S (1 500).
History
According to a Malayan chronicle, the Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa , Kedah would have been rested by a prince hindouist.In the neighborhoods of 250 after J. - C., of the Chinese texts mention a kingdom of the name of Ka-your-ha located at the site of current Kedah.

In 1620, Kedah is conquered by the sultan Iskandar Muda of Aceh in the north of Sumatra (reign 1607-36), at the same time as Pahang.
In 1622, the Ungu princess goes up on the throne of the Royaume of Patani. Economy
Kedah is regarded as the rice reserve of the country. The landscape is composed of rice plantations and surmounted plains of hills limestones.
The highway and the railway make it possible to communicate with Kuala Lumpur and Hat Yai in Thailand.
