Kazem Shariatmadari

Ayatollah Mohammad Kazem Shariatmadari (1905 - 1986) محمدکاظمشريعتمداري was one of the monks moreover high ranking in Iran and Iraq. After the death of the Large Ayatollah Borujerdi in 1962, it became Marja-e taqlid, with disciples in Iran, with the Pakistan, in India, with the Lebanon, the Kuwait and in the states of the south of the Persian Gulf. He recognized the Ayatollah Khomeini in 1963 and was one of the characters - keys of the Iranian Révolution. For the period of the provisional government, it carries out one of the political factions which is against Khomeini and founds the Republican party of the Islamic people in 1979. It directed also the Center of studies and Islamic publications of Qom and was the administrator of the Madreseh Fatemeh with Qom.

In April 1982, Sadegh Ghotbzadeh is stopped on the loads of plot with military officers and the monks to perpetrate an attack at the house of Khomeini and to reverse the state. Ghotbzadeh denies the intentions of attack and declares that he wanted to change the government, and not to reverse the Islamic Republic. It also implied Ayatollah Shariatmadari, of which it said that it was informed of the plan and who had promised funds if the plan succeeded. The son-in-law of Shariatmadari, which had been used as intermediary between Shariatmadari and Ghotbzadeh, is punished of prison, and a smear campaign is installation to discredit Shariatmadari. Thanks to its condition of Mujtahid, it is not carried out, but its party is dismantled, its closed center of the Islamic studies and publication and there remained assigned in residence until its death in 1985.
