Kandahar
The schofar ( chofar or shophar ) is a Musical instrument with wind of use in the ritual israëlite since the Antiquité. It was in particular used by the Hebrew against the walls of Jericho at the time of the conquest of the Pays of Canaan by Josué.
The chofar is used, in the Jewish tradition, at the time of the festivals of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippour, like each néoménie TO CHECK and the day of Yom Haatsmaout (independence of the State of Israel). This instrument, the only one that the Jews preserved since the Antiquité, is intended to announce the end of the Jeûne, the day of the Yom Kippour, in each Synagog.
One classifies it in the horns since it is manufactured with a horn of ram, indeed since in Jewish lexicology קרן
The schofar is a kind of made horn of a horn of ram (and never of another matter by pointing out the shape nor of a horn of bull C.Q.F.D. שלמהבןיצחקיוםשנישלפ ' וזאותהברנה ~ התשס " ח).
Its narrow end is used as mouth.
