KWord

KWord is a Free software of word processing based on executives. It makes party of the office automation Suite KOffice of the project KDE. It manages the open format OpenDocument.

History

KWord is created within the framework of the KOffice project in 1998 on the basis of several idea coming from FrameMaker, in particular concerning the page layout using frameworks. In the opinion of initial author, the application just as its source code were not terrible until an approach directed object is used.

In 2000, the source code of KWord had become very difficult to modify and nobody worked to correct the known problems. There had not been of new official version since the first version. A new maintenor then started to correct these problems and to restructure the code during the year 2001.
