Biography
In 1932, Schwartz Co-published (with Mort Weisinger and Forrest J. Ackerman) Time Traveller , one of the first Fanzine S of science fiction. Schwartz and Weisinger also founded the literary agency Solar Sales (1934-1944) or Schwartz was the agent of writers such as Alfred Bester, Robert Bloch, Ray Bradbury during its first writings, and H.P. Lovecraft for its last. Moreover, Schwartz helped with the creation of the first World Science Fiction Convention in 1939.In 1944, it integrates All-American Comics, the future cd. Comics . He engaged Bester so that he takes part in the drafting of the comics. In the Fifties it started again Super-héros such as Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman and Atom, which will be the departure of money the age of the comics. This revival is perhaps even at the origin of the changes carried out within Marvel Comics in the Sixties. Schwartz left cd. Comics in 1986 after 42 years of good and faithful services. In 2000, it published its Autobiographie, Man off Two Worlds: My Life in Science Fiction and Comics .
Schwartz had many rewards throughout its career. One decreed to him the Alley Award better editor, and the Shazam Award in 1972 to have republished the titles Shazam
Schwartz dies the February 8th 2004, at the 88 years age, after being hospitalized for Pneumonie. In homage cd. Comics published a series of 8 One-shot S entitled cd. Present Comics containing stories based on the most famous covers of the titles which it had published.
