Jucu

Jucu is a village of Transylvania, in Romania, in the Judeţ de Cluj. The Jucu commune is composed by the villages Jucu de Sus, Gădălin, Juc-Herghelie, Jucu de Mijloc, Vişea.

History

In 1733, in Jucu, which was Locus unitus purus valachicus " Purely Rumanian locality, of religion gréco-catholic " , the seat of a archidiaconat and a vicariate ( Archidiaconatus Rmi Dni Vicarii generalis Sukiensis ), there were 67 Rumanian families, therefore some 335 inhabitants. There were a parochial house ( Domus parochialis ), a church. Two priests functioned there: Stephan and Stephan jun. We learn these data, of the register of the conscription organized by the Rumanian Bishop gréco-catholic (the 1728 - 1751) Inocenţiu Micu-Klein (born in 1692, with Sadu, Judeţ de Sibiu, Transylvania - deceased September 23rd 1768, in exile, with Rome, in Italy).
