Juan George Hohman
The National park of Salonga is a national park of the Democratic republic of Congo. Established on the provinces of the Bandundu, the Ecuador and the Kasaï-Westerner, it is since 1984 registered on the Liste of the world heritage of UNESCO.
It is the greatest reserve of rain tropical forest. It is accessible only by water way. Several threatened endemic species populate it, of which the Paon of Congo, the dwarf chimpanzee ou" Bonobo ", the elephant of the forests (Loxodonta cyclotis) and the African , so known gavial under the name of " false crocodile ".
This site was only country not to be registered on the list of the world heritage in danger, being given its relative distance of the unstable zones since tens of years of the east of the country. Continuations with the combat which shook the country during the Second war of Congo, it was however added there in 1999.
