Joseph Kasa-Vubu

Joseph Kasa-Vubu (v. 1910 - March 24th 1969), first president of the Democratic republic of Congo of 1960 with 1965.
Born with Tshela in the Mayumbe (Low-Congo) towards 1910 (1913 according to other sources), seminarist with the small seminar of Mbata-Kiela, but judged too independent to become priest, it followed the teacher training school. Estimating itself paid insufficiently for its educational level, it gave up soon the career of teacher, became employed in the Agrifor company then, in 1942, assistant-accountant with the Service of Finances of the colonial Government. It undergoes soon with Léopoldville, become the capital of Congo, the sometimes divergent influences of various advanced groups of Congolese coming from various provinces. It will be made known as a leader of the organization Bakongo ABAKO.
After having used Joseph Mobutu in 1961 to get rid of its Prime Minister Patrice Lumumba, it was deposited by the first in 1965 and withdrew political life until its death in 1969.
