Joseph Hémard
Joseph Hémard (Mureaux, 1880 - Paris, 1961), illustrator
He is the author of many stories in images, he illustrates also the great classics (Balzac, Molière, Rabelais, Rostand, the Fountain, Voltaire, Courteline, etc). Its meeting with the editor Rene Kieffer will give creations of works magnificiently illustrated " with the pochoirs". (Micromegas, the Man with the 40 ecus…)A very beautiful realization in the Mornay editor with " The war of the boutons" Decorations and costumes for reviews and operettas, also decorates with the plates, of the bars and the restaurants, frequent mainly pharmaceutical publicities and for the national lottery. Member of Humoristes which it will chair after the war as a successor of Poulbot, it exposes to the Spider and the Salon of autumn in 1919. He also wrote parts for the Théâtre of Puppet created by Charles Genty, and taken part in the cartoons of Lortac. Joseph Hémard published his autobiography in 1928.
