Joseph-Pierre Lanet

Joseph-Pierre Lanet ( alias Lacaze , Séverac , Guiraud then Barthès in Resistance , born the December 20th 1912 with Puisserguier and deceased the September 6th 1974 with Rivesaltes) is a politician French.

Biography

Sons of Joseph Lanet, trading, and of Lucie Bonnafous, Joseph-Pierre Lanet marries Raymonde Roger-with Battisti on January 8th 1936 in Perpignan. Insurer of formation to Béziers, it is one of the founders of the free Midi. After having had important responsibilities in the resistance in the area, it is one of the founders of l´ democratic and socialist Union of the Resistance (UDSR) of which he is general secretary until in 1951. Secretary of State to Technical education, Youth and the Sports in the government of Pierre Mendès France, it exerts then the functions of administrator of companies before becoming general secretary of the Social New agreement, grouping founded by Edgar Faure with the National Assembly.

Political career

Member of the Committee of Release of Béziers, it is elected 2nd assistant of the mayor following the municipal elections of 1944.

June 17th 1951 at February 1st 1955, it is elected with l´ National Assembly like representative of the Département of the Seine (under l´égide of l´UDSR). He is member of the Superior council of cinematography in 1953 then menbre of the restricted commion of this Council in 1955.

He is then named, the June 15th 1954 in the Gouvernement Pierre Mendès France as Secretary of State to Technical education, with Youth and with the Sports, qu´il occupies jusqu´au February 23rd 1955 posts.

Beaten with the legislative elections of 1956, it founds with Bernard Lafay, the republican Center of which he is general secretary, while remaining president of important federation UDSR of the Seine.

He is finally elected like senator of the Seine of the June 8th 1958 with the April 26th 1959. He finds this station with the Senate of April 1967 at September 1968 following the election of Bernard Lafay like deputy of Paris. He does not represent himself in 1968.

In 1970, it founds with Edgar Faure the Social New agreement of which he is the general secretary.

Named at the Economic and Social Council on August 28th 1974, it occupies only station which 5 days and dies brutally in Rivesaltes (the Eastern Pyrenees) in his/her brother-in-law on September 6th, 1974. It is buried with Puisserguier in l´ Herault.

Joseph Lanet was knight of the Légion of honor, Military Cross 39-45, and had received the Rivet washer of Resistance.
