Jose Raúl Capablanca
Jose Raúl Capablanca Graupera (November 19th 1888 with Havana, Cuba - March 8th 1942 with New York) was there a cuban player of failures . Of 1921 with 1927, it is world champion of the failures.
Biography
Wire of a colonial civil servant, Capablanca was a child prodigy who discovered the set of failures at four years. The legend says that it assimilated the rules by observing his father play. As of its youths, its force with the play is remarkable.At the 12 years age, it gains a meeting against the champion of Cuba Juan Corzo there Príncipe by +4 -3 =6.
Thereafter, he studies during two years chemistry and the sport with the Université Columbia in New York.
In 1909, it gains clearly against Frank Marshall by +8 -1 =14. It makes irruption on the international plan with the tournament of San Sebastian in Spain in 1911, where it gains in front of known Masters, like Akiba Rubinstein, Milan Vidmar and Carl Schlechter.
In 1913, it was named in the diplomatic services of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Cuba. It did not have real obligations, the cuban authorities finding sufficient publicity that it made for its country and could thus de facto be devoted fully to the failures.
In 1921, Capablanca gains the championship of the world against Emanuel Lasker (+4 -0 =10). It preserved its title during 6 years and lost only 4 parts out of approximately 200.
It loses its title in 1927 with Buenos Aires against Alexandre Alekhine (+3 -6 =25). During following years, Alekhine avoids granting a revenge to him, thus giving any opportunity to him to regain its title. The two players did not address any more the word.
In the Années 1930 emerged opposite him of the younger and frightening rivals like Mikhail Botvinnik, Paul Keres, Reuben Fine or Samuel Reshevsky, it does not make of it less one return marked in the world elite, thus gaining in 1936 extremely disputed tournaments, with Moscow (only winner in front of Botvinnik) and with Nottingham ( ex æquo with Botvinnik).
