Jonathan Livingston the seagull
Jonathan Livingston the seagull is a metaphorical history written in 1970 by the American writer Richard Bach. A film was drawn from this history.
Summary
Jonathan, small a Seagull, is impassioned by the flight, always higher and more quickly. He always seeks to improve what he can do, while its entourage incites it to behave as any seagull which respects itself - and thus respects the others of its species: to take the airs to only nourish itself.
Jonathan must continue its search as a recluse; it is driven out of the clan. One day, it will make new meetings, and will preach the flight like a religion…
Philosophy
The message that Richard Bach wished to make pass would summarize in a sentence: Require freedom like a right, are what you want to be .
But this history of a hundred pages, appeared in 1970 pennies the original title of Jonathan Livingston Seagull , had a range much more important. Many trainers in personal Développement recommend its reading.
This type of Métaphore does not go without finding echo in nonconformism, thus in the current of thought preaching the search for individual identity. But what appears in a very clear way is a strong requirement of improvement which one finds in the philosophical course of that which leaves the cave, in the famous allegory of Book VII of the Republic , of Plato.
