Johannes Itten

Johannes Itten , born the November 11th 1888 and dead the May 25th 1967 with Zurich, is a Swiss painter.

He was one of the professors of the Bauhaus of 1919 with 1923. He took as of his arrival a major influence on the teaching of this institution. He directed the lesson having milked to the form. He was disputed because of his methods of teaching impressed of the practice of the religion zoroastrist of which he was an enthusiastic practitioner…

Ring chromatic

The chromatic circle of Johannes Itten is an attempt to rationalize the color. Others, before him and after him, did it. Today, thanks to the technological tools at our disposal, we can look with an eye criticizes the test of the artist. Johannes Itten chose 3 primary colors: yellow, blue and the red (circle in top on the left). In fact, it is to better choose: the Yellow , the Cyan and the Magenta . By making the inversion of the colors, one has, in the first case, of the new colors (in bottom on the left).
