Joseph Madureira (born the December 3rd 1974, with Philadelphia), called Joe Mad! is a American Dessinateur , of Portuguese origin , mainly known for its work on Uncanny X-Men and on Battle Chasers .
Biography
In 1991, Marvel engages Madureira, then 16 years old, like Stagiaire. Its first publication is a history of eight pages in Marvel Comics Present , in which appears Véga of the Division Alpha. In the years which follow, Madureira takes part in various tasks on the series related to X-Men, until becoming the regular draftsman of Uncanny X-Men in 1994. It quickly becomes one of the most popular artists. One owes him in particular the uniforms of the Ère of Apocalypse, as well as the new costumes of the regular title.It gives up Uncanny X-Men in 1997 in order to work on its own series, Battle Chasers , for Cliffhanger, a subsidiary company of cd. Comics. The title suffers from many delays, the numbers not leaving regularly (waiting between two numbers could last up to 6 months). The series stops after 9 numbers.
Joe then starts to work for the industry of the video game. With a Tri-Lunar named company, it creates the graphic concept of a play, Dragonkind which is born never in reasons of the financial problems of the company. Thereafter, he works on two plays for NC Soft, Exarch (which were cancelled), and Tabula Rasa (a MMORPG). He in addition continues to carry out many covers for magazines of video games and comics.
It was announced that it would draw Ultimates 3, with Jeph Loeb with the scenario.
Impact
According to a survey carried out by the American edition of Wizard Magazine (May 2002), Madureira would be one of the ten most important artists of all times. Stalemate Lee, the founder of Dreamwave Productions, even declared that Joe Madureira is definitively associated with the comics of end of the year 90.
