Jim Cregan
Jim Cregan is a Guitariste and British Bassiste of Rock born the March 9th 1946 with Yeovil, Somerset (England).
Biography
It takes part in the groups Stud, Family, Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel then with that of Rod Stewart (1977 - 1995). Although Family, Cockney Rebel and Rod Stewart constitute its more famous associations, Cregan played with multiple groups and musicians.
Beginnings
In 1967 Cregan joins the future Traffic Dave Mason within Julian Covay and the Machine. Little time after, Cregan joined the group Blossom Toes. Whereas their first album We Are Ever So Clean is regarded as a disc flower-power, the second If Only For has Moment pours in the heavy metal. Cregan sings on many titles and plays of the guitar, often both at the same time.
After having worked in 1971 on the album éponyme of Julie Driscoll, Cregan joined Stud. The group begins in the form from a trio with Cregan associated with the bass player and the beater with Taste (group of Rory Gallagher). They are quickly joined by the bass player of Family John Weider. Stud east dissolves after two albums.
Family and Linda Lewis
Cregan joined Family in September 1972, substitute John Wetton with low. Cregan had never played of this instrument, but it adapts to it quickly; It will never rejouera any after the dissolution of Family. After the arrival of Cregan, Family turns in North America with Elton John (1972). In 1973, Family records two simple then an album It' S Only has Movie which will be their last. Leaders of Family Roger Chapman and John " Charlie" Whitney leave the group. After a last round with the the United Kingdom, it is the end of Family.
Cregan had already launched several projects before Family is not dissolves. He works with the singer of drunk person Linda Lewis, with whom he will marry, appearing on four of his albums whose Not has Little Girl Anymore (1975).
Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel
The members of the group of Glam rock'n'roll Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel resign, kind Harley to form new a Cockney Rebel. Cregan is recruited as guitarist. Ironically, after having wiped a storm which could have been fatal for its career, Harley and new Cockney Rebel record the simple one which will become their greater success. Make Spalls Me (Like Up and See Me) , recorded in the studios of Abbey Road, reached the tops of the British hit-parade in 1975.
Rod Stewart
Cregan quickly leaves Harley in 1977, and joined the group of Rod Stewart, becoming its " arm droit".
Cregan coécrit several successes of Stewart in the Seventies and Eighties, of which Passion or Tonight I' m Yours which is worth to him a price allotted by the " American Society off Composers, Authors, and Publishers" (ASCAP). Criticism then reproaches Stewart a sound too with the mose. The proper reputation of Cregan is blamed when Stewart leaves its simple Forever Young in 1988. The song presents melody similarities and in the text with a song of the same name of Bob Dylan going back to 1974. Cregan is implied in a business of plagiarism. No continuation will be directed against its leader, and apparently there were no sufficient similarities between the two songs. the ASCAP thus does not take action pursuant, and allots even a third trophy to Cregan for its contribution.
Recent years
Cregan remains with Rod Stewart until 1995 then from goes away after ten eight years of collaboration. It forms Farm Dogs with the lyric writer of Elton John Bernie Taupin. They leave two albums.
Cregan then joined the formation which accompanies Katie Melua, and is credited on its album Piece by Piece .
Cregan marries the figure of the mode of Hollywood Jane Booke. They live with their daughter with Los Angeles since years, although Cregan in January 2004 passes much from time to London taking part in the emission of the BBC 2 of Steve Harley.
