Jeita

The caves of Jeita remain a center of attraction of first order to the Lebanon, for the tourists, but also for the families. Located at 20 km in the north of Beirut, they consist of 2 galleries:

  • the higher gallery, discovered in 1958. It was explored on 2 200 meters, and the visitors can traverse it on 750 meters. In summer, it happens that small concerts are organized inside.

  • the lower gallery, discovered in 1836, is traversed by an underground river. One can traverse it in the boat on approximately 600 meters.

The temperature remains stable in the 2 caves, 16 °C for the lower cellar and 22 °C for the higher cellar giving the opportunity to the visitors to enjoy the hot climate in winter and the fresh climate in summer.
