Jean Widmer
Jean Widmer is a Graphiste born with Frauenfeld, in Suisse, on March 31st 1929, made in France in the the Fifties.
Biography
From 1946 to 1950, it makes studies in Kunstgewerbeschule of Zurich, the School of the applied arts, under the direction of Johannes Itten of the Bauhaus. It takes down there a diploma for the occupation of decorator of windows, then continues its studies of graphics. It is able at Paris in 1953 to make its training course at Tolmer (boarding and publisher). He becomes then artistic director at the new Company of information and publicity (of 1956 to 1959), then with the Galeries Lafayette during two years, of 1959 with 1961, and artistic director and photographer with the magazine the Garden of the modes of until in 1969. Parallel to its activities of teaching which it carries out in parallel as of 1960, it opens in 1969 the agency Jean Widmer (which will become Visuel Design thereafter)Jean Widmer is the originator many programs of visual identities: the Center of Industrial Creation , the Center Georges-Pompidou, the Museum of Orsay, the Town of Berlin, the Conservatory higher national of music and dance of Paris, the National library of France, the national Gallery of Jeu de Paume, etc
Large specialist in Descriptive, it is seen to entrust those of Highways of south of France (these control panels and of animation which one sees along our highways), of the Aéroports of Paris in 1994, of the Cité of the music in 1995 and well of others.
Jean Widmer taught with the 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of decorative Arts with Paris.
