Jean Jaubert de Barrault (1584 - † on July 30th 1643)
Bishop of Bazas, bishop of the Foreign Diocese then archbishop of Arles.
Biography
Jean Jaubert de Barrault was born in 1584 with Blaignac. Bishop of Bazas (archbishop's palace of Auch) in 1605, it is named in 1611 bishop of the Diocèse Foreign and ordered bishop on August 7th 1611 (?). In 1630, it is transferred to Arles where on July 20th, it reaches the seat of archbishop of this city (confirmation on May 12th, 1631).Very dependant with the Benedictines of Saint-Maur, it introduces the reform bénédictine of Saint-Maur into the monasteries arlésiens, that of Midsummer's Day and that of Montmajour. In Montmajour, it runs up against the opposition of the monks. It must make call in 1638 with letter patent of the king authorizing to him if necessary to resort to the Intendant of Provence to impose the legal settlement of 1639. The Mauristes take possession of this monastery to the Saint-Michel 1639.
Jean Jaubert de Barrault dies on July 30th 1643.
