Jean II Casimir Vasa ( Jan Kazimierz Waza ) is a Polish king who reigned of 1648 with 1668 during his reign the Poland lost most of his territory by his engagements against the Russia, the Sweden, the Tatar S and the Ukraine.
Born the March 22nd 1609 with Cracow, the second wire of Sigismond III Vasa fought France with the Habsbourg during the Guerre Thirty Year old. Stopped in France whereas he travelled towards the Spain, there remain two years in prison (1638-1640). Released and giving up any political ambition it enters to the Jésuites but gives up at the end of one year.
With died of his brother the king Ladislas IV Vasa, it is elected in 1648 with the throne of Poland and obtained an exemption to marry the widow of this one Marie Louise of Gonzague-Nevers.
In spite of its desire to negotiate with the Ukrainian Cossacks , it had to continue the fight under the pressure of the Polish nobility wishing to increase their possession. it gained the Bataille of Beresteczko against the forces cossacks and Tatar S (20 June 30th, 1651]. but the engagements began again when the cossacks were combined with Russia. At the same time, the Sweden invades Poland.
By treaty, it renonça with its rights on the crown of Sweden and yielded the Livonie. The war against Russia was finished by the Trêve of Andrusovo. It is initially demolishes by Charles-Gustave, king of Sweden, with Warsaw, 1656.
The September 19th 1657, it signs the Traité of Welawa by which it gives up sovereignty on the duchy of Prussia. It pushed back then Charles-Gustave, king of Sweden, and concludes the Traité from Oliwa, 1660. Its armies, ordered by Sobieski, overcame the Tartar S in 1661.
However, having lost his wife in 1667, and having nauseated by the war and the revolt of the diet, it abdicates on September 16th 1668. It was withdrawn in France and becomes titular abbot of Saint-Germain-of-Meadows. He became abbot of Saint Martin's day of Nevers. He died the December 16th 1672 with Nevers.
