Jean Frisano
Jean Frisano , born in 1927 and deceased in 1989, is a French painter, especially known for the covers putting in scene Super-héros which it carried out for Strange and other reviews of the editions Lug.
Jean Frisano collaborated since 1948 in a cartoon of Sagédition which diffused many American series like the Phantom of Bengal or Mandrake.
After a passage by the firms SPE, Ray-Flo and SFPI, he contacts the editor of Lug, Marcel Navarro which entrusts to him the execution of covers of Western: Rodeo, Kiwi, Tex Willer. In addition to these titles, it will carry out also the covers of Mustang, Nevada, Ombrax, Yuma, Baroud, and Blek.
As of August 1969, Jean Frisano carries out his first cover superman for number 7 of Fantask .
Following the stop of the title Fantask for reasons of censure, Jean Frisano takes over American cover to the Indian ink on the small size Marvel n°8 of the 9/10/70, then for Strange , and becomes the first artist to impose a realistic graphic treatment direct colors of the Super-héros, thus conferring one to them mythical dimension even more spectacular and captivating.
Indeed, Marvel Comics, the American editor of Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four will propose with its readers versions painted of its characters only well after the Lug editions, during the creation of " magazines" inspired by the titles Warren Creepy and Eerie .
Following the success of Strange , Jean Frisano lives himself to entrust the realization of posters for this small size and the covers of the range increasingly more extended of the titles of superman: Special Strange , Titans , Nova , the albums Four Fantastic , the Spider , Ka-Zar , the X-Men and also of other series not superman or albums of Marvel: Conan, of film adaptations Star Wars ( the Return of Jedi ), the Planet of the monkeys which took again the series Doc. Savage , Dark Crystal . Jean Frisano paints also the cover of a single album Iron Jaw, and other covers for Futura, Kabur, Waki.
