Jean-Marie Villégier

Jean-Marie Villégier is a Director French born with Orleans in 1937.

Incorporated Philosophy, Villégier is put at the setting in scene at nearly 40 years. Since 1974, it has with its credit more than one forty settings in scene, of which the many ones for the Comédie-Française.

In 1985, it founds its own company which it baptizes Illustre Theater , giving from the start the color of the repertory. It indeed will be primarily devoted to go up the dramatic repertory of the 17th century: Molière, Crow and Root, but also Tristan the Hermit, Mairet or Larivey.

Villégier also made several incursions into the setting in scene of opera, at the sides of his accomplice William Christie, in particular for Atys of Lully, the incoronazione di Poppea of Monteverdi or Rodelinda of Haendel.
