Jani Sievinen

Jani Sievinen , born the March 31st 1974 with Vihti, is old a swimmer Finnish. Specialist in the tests of 4 strokes, he was Olympic vice-champion on 200 m 4 strokes in 1996 with Atlanta behind the Hungarian Attila Czene. Having taken part in four Olympiads it was, lasting the decade 1990, one of the best Finnish swimmers with Antti Kasvio.

One year after its first Olympic participation in Barcelona, it gains its first major title into 1993 with the Championships of Europe of Sheffield before becoming world champion in 1994 by gaining the test of the 200 m 4 strokes (world records with the key). Triple champion of Europe in 1995, it disputes its second Plays in Atlanta in Olympic Games of summer of 1996 and takes down the money medal on the test of the 200 m 4 strokes. From 1991 to 2004, it gained 5 championships of Europe in large basin 4 other medals.

In small basin, the Finn gained 4 world titles and 6 Europeans and held during 9 years the world records of the 200 m 4 strokes (before Michael Phelps does not improve it) and that of the 400 m 4 strokes during 4 years. He stopped his career after the Euro 2006 in small basin organized in his country with Helsinki.
