James Weddell

James Weddell (August 24th 1787 - September 9th 1834) was a British navigator , Explorateur and hunter of Phoque S.
It gave in particular its name to the Mer of Weddell located in the the Antarctic and has one of the Falkland Islands.
It also left its name to the Phoque of Weddell.
Life
James Weddell between very young person in the merchant navy. Towards 1805, it embarks on a tradind ship for the the Western Indies and accomplishes several voyages.
In 1820, it goes voluntary in the Royal Navy and is useful successively on several ships. It is on board the Hope in 1813 at the time of the capture of the American ship True Blooded Yankee. At the end of the Napoleonean Wars, it is unloaded with half-pay in February 1816 and still accomplishes some voyages in India.
