Jagged Alliance 2
Developed by Sir-Tech Canada and published by the American distributer TalonSoft, Jagged Alliance 2 is a tactical play of action/to the turn by turn in isometric 3D, to which come to be added certain elements of RPG. Left in 1999, that is to say one year after Commandos, one can note a certain resemblance of gameplay.
Synopsis
If Jagged Alliance 2 does not make historically following the first episode, a great number of characters in is resulting.
Arulco is a tiny imaginary state, probably located in Central America, whose richness lies in its money and gold mines. Thing curious for a country about this area of the sphere, it is a Constitutional monarchy. The legitimate prince, Enrico Chivaldori, had to be exiled abroad after the death of his father, assassinated by his mother-in-law, an opportunist woman and without scruples: Deidranna Reitman.
The latter founds then a bloody and cruel dictatorship (as to prove that the males do not have the monopoly of brutality…) exploiting the country until exhaustion. Since its retirement, Enrico engages an expert (the player) so that it helps resistance, carried out by Miguel Cordonna, to reverse the tyranne. With the player thus to recruit the members of a commando mercenary who will cut through a path to the palate of Deidranna to cut down it.
The AIM
Present through all the episodes of the " Jagged Alliance" , the AIM (International association of the Mercenaries) is a kind of agency of interim for soldier of fortune. One finds there of all: meticulous sniper with the bomb disposal expert psychopathe, while passing through the nurse of ground vain and the asocial Russian soldier. Some general-purpose, others are very specialized (see further).
To note that the AIM is not the only place to recruit mercenaries. The player will be able to also find volunteers among local resistance and the population, like another organization: the MERC. It can also send its own misadventure on the ground, although its possible death does not involve range over.
Gameplay
The principal interface of the play takes the shape of a pseudo screen of laptop presenting a tactical chart, and bonds Internet towards the AIM for recruitment and " Bobby Ray" a site of sale in line of weapons and military material. The tactical chart makes it possible to visualize any Arulco, cut out in sectors. There are seven cities (Omerta, Drassen, Cambria, Chitzena, Grumm, Alma, and Balime) more the capital, Meduna. Smallest only extend on two sectors, largest on six. The goal is to take again all the cities, by moving sector in sector, hands of the army of Deidranna, in order to recover the firepower necessary to come to besiege it in its palate.
When that the team penetrates in a sector occupied by the enemy, the play passes for " on the terrain" , and out of turn by turn for the confrontation. Many possibilities one taken into account; like the fact of lengthening for better aiming, climbing on the roofs, to hide in the shade…
Once one seized a city, it should be preserved, especially that mining in each one of it constitutes the only financial resource. One can then train a militia of defense, to push back the enemy counter-attacks.
Just like in a RPG, the characters gain levels of experiment, get new weapons, and progress in their competences by the practice. Each mercenary is described by four physical characteristics:

Health: directly the number of point of life
- Agility: capacity to be moved quickly and without noise
- Force: to carry heavy loads and to strike more extremely with the body-with-body
- Dexterity: capacity to carry out precise actions quickly (picking, désarmorçage…)
- Wisdom: capacity to be learned. A high wisdom makes it possible to progress more quickly.
Then the features come:

Shooting: precision with the firearms
- Command: speed to form the Mechanical militia
- : repair/manufacture of Explosive equipment
- : starting/draining/manufacture of explosive devices
- Medicine: capacity to look after the wounds quickly and well
These competences are estimated on a scale from 0 to 100, and some are complementary. Independently of that, certain mercenaries have a gift which enables them to excel in certain fields (no-claims bonus with the success)

- Combat with hand naked (no-claims bonus with the body-with-body)
- To teach (no-claims bonus with the training of the militia/the other mercenaries)
- To launch (better precision with the throw of knife, grenades…)
- Furtivité (no-claims bonus with furtive displacement)
- Operation of night (better field of view the night)
- Shooting since the roof (no-claims bonus with the touch since a high position)
One of the principal attractions of Jagged Alliance is that each character with his small characters well with him. Some are appreciated, others on the contrary are hated, sometimes at the point not to renew their contract. An advised commander must take guard with these mutual incompatibilities. Without counting those which are really insane and can have unexpected reactions in combat…

In spite of the bankruptcy of Sir-Tech, the frankness Jagged Alliance at summer recovered by Strategy First which entrusted the development of a Jagged Alliance 3 to the Russian studio Mistland Studio. In spite of the setting on line of some promising captures of screen, the advance of the project is very discrete. Certain fans fear that it does not advance in fact at all and ends up being cancelled.

It is about a republication of the play Jagged Alliance 2 (basic play), without scenaristic transformations but optimized for more realism. The enemies are more numerous and intelligent, the charts (especially the urban ones) comprise more buildings and civilians. The system of combat is more credible (almost impossible to touch an enemy with the gun by far) and them weapons are very close to reality (there are many new models). Wildfire is much more difficult than the preceding version.
