Jacques Peyrat
Jacques Peyrat (born the October 18th 1931 with Belfort) is a Politician and lawyer French, mayor of Nice since 1995 and senator of the the Alpes-Maritimes since 1998.
Biography
Jacques Peyrat is resulting from a family of soldiers. In 1946, the Peyrat family settles with Nice, where it continues its studies of Droit and Lettres.
In 1947, 16 years old, it adheres to RPF, just created by the Général de Gaulle.
In 1953, it engages in a battalion parachutist of the Foreign legion. It is in French Indo-China that it meets and binds friendship with Jean-Marie Le Pen.
Into its return to the civil life, it integrates the socio-professional world. Its devotion to the presidency of groupings parachutists and aeronautics is worth to him the money medal of youth and the sports.
In 1962, it begins a political career, initially with CNI, then at the Republicans independent of Valery Giscard d'Estaing, like city council man Nice near Jean Médecin. In parallel, it engages in the trade of lawyer, with a specialization in criminal law.
In 1973, it joined the National front. He is appointed FN of 1986 to 1988, general adviser of the Canton of Nice 14 of 1992 to 1998 and regional adviser.
In 1994, Jacques Peyrat leaves FN. He is elected the following year mayor of Nice, under the label “Various right-hand side”; he will be re-elected in 2001.
In 1996, it joined the rows of the RPR. He is elected appointed the Alpes-Maritimes in 1997.
Since the September 27th 1998, he is senator RPR then UMP the Alpes-Maritimes and in 2002, he creates the CANCA, whose he assumes the chairmanship.
He is also member of the Superior council of the military reserve and member of the High Court of justice.
In a maintenance published the January 11th 2007 in the daily newspaper Nice Morning, Jacques Peyrat was expressed on the position which would be his in the event of second turn opposing Ségolène Royal to Jean-Marie Le Pen. In this case of figure, he would vote for Mr. Le Pen, explaining “I will never vote socialist” and “I all the same will not spit on those which belong closely or by far to my family” . This declaration was worth strong reactions on behalf of local opposition to him, which, such Patrick Mottard, claimed an official reaction of UMP.
With the autumn 2007, he announces that he is candidate for his own succession with the town hall of Nice, for a third mandate, whereas UMP invested Christian Estrosi.
