Jacques Daret
Jacques Daret (Turned 1404 - 1470) is a Flemish painter .
Jacques Daret is born in Tournai. He begins his career as apprentice in the workshops tournaisiens of Robert Campin in 1427 where it remains during 15 years. He becomes later a favorite of the Burgundian court , and the abbot of Saint-Vaast was his owner during 20 years.
In 1454, he works with four of his pupils to decorations undertaken with Lille at the time of the famous banquet of the wishes of pheasant. In 1468, he collaborates, like Hugo Van der Goes with the decoration of the town of Bruges, at the time of the marriage of Charles Bold the and Marguerite of York. It is incontestably about a painter extremely considered at his time.
Its principal work is the Retable of the Abbey of Vaast Saint to Arras of which there does not remain any more but only four panels. It enlumina also some manuscripts and produced paperboards of tapestry.
