Jacob of Gassion

Jacob of Gassion (1578 - 1635) was a writer and doctor inhabitant of Béarn, wire of the Marshal of France Jean de Gassion and chair Parliament of Navarre sitting Pau. He is the author of a Sonnet in Béarnais adapted Pierre de Ronsard and put much later in music by the singer Marcel Amont:

Quan lo spring in rauba pingorlada

has hèit passar the escossor deus grans hreds,
Lo cabiròu per jumps E garrimbets,
Sauteriqueja with the mietan of the prada.
With the beth esguit of the auba ensafranada
Takes the fresca, to length deus arrivets,
Marilhà' S goes dens the aiga argentada,
Puish suu tucòu smart He hundred arricoquets…
Deus edges corrents cranh the clapiteja;
E tien sauv… My, in tan which holeja,
the arquebusèr lo da lo còp mortau!
Atau viví direction tristessa nor mieja,
Quan a beth uelh me anà har per enveja,
With the miei deu còr, will bèra plaga lejau.
