Ivo Malec

Ivo Malec is a Compositeur and Croatian Leader French naturalized, born with Zagreb in 1925

Biography

After a formation of most traditional, its meeting with Pierre Schaeffer, which he regards as his " only and true maître" , does of him one of the most solid organizers of the “Groupe of music research” of the research service of ORTF; it devotes to the electroacoustic Musique and other forms of Modern music; he is professor of composition to the Conservatoire National Higher of Music of Paris of 1972 than 1990.

Established in France since 1959, he is prize winner, inter alia, of the National Grand Prix of Music in 1992.

Since its revelation schaefferienne, it is anxious to renew the musical writing and its notation, being interested in priority in the sound and the elements which constitute it (grains, texture). Its step before is very attached to the sound objects of P. Schaeffer. Sometimes it associates them in an unexpected way with the instruments of the Orchestre or with the voice, which gives a mixture astonishing, sometimes violent but always musical and full with life, between traditional electroacoustics and sonorities. It had the idea to transcribe with the instruments the techniques of composition of the studio electroacoustic (cf Martial Robert).

In 2006, Ivo Malec is made Chevalier of the Legion of Honor.
