Isle-in Abeau

Isle-with Abeau is a common of France, to 30 km in the south-east of Lyon in the plain of the Dauphine one.

City

This small town grew with the creation of the new city. It accommodates 8 elementary schools (including one private), 2 colleges, 1 college and 2 IUT: IUT GEII and IUT SRC ( S ervices and R éseaux of C ommunication, dedicated to the trades of multi-media and data processing). Isle-in Abeau also comprises a regional shopping mall with many large national signs. The city is served by a service of public transport, a station and by road ways of quality (A43 & RN6). Moreover, the airport of Lyon Saint Exupéry and its station TGV are only with one about fifteen kilometers. Access by the train: FOR THE THIRD TIME to use the line Lyon Perrache/Holy Andre the Gas/Grenoble

New city

It gave its name to a Ville new, whose creation was decided in 1970 to channel the population growth of the agglomeration Lyon is born, and organized in Syndicat of new agglomeration ( SAN ) which gathers five communes: Furnace, Isle-with Abeau , Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, Vaulx-Medium and Villefontaine. since January 1st, 2007, the SAN was transformed into community of agglomeration called " The Community of Agglomeration Carries of Isère" (CAPI)

Population

The five communes which constitute the new city saw their population multiplying by ten since his creation, to exceed 40 000 inhabitants on an total surface area of 6 441 hectares (40 818 in 2003, is 634 hab. /km ² of average density).

Administration

The canton of Isle-in Abeau counts 5 communes: Isle-with Abeau , Vaulx-Medium, Holy Quentin-Fallavier, Furnace and Villefontaine. Its chief town is not fixed at Isle-in Abeau but at Villefontaine.

History

May 26th 1970: the inter-ministerial committee of town and country planning approves the diagram of installation of the metropolis Lyon - Saint-Etienne - Grenoble which envisages the creation of a new city in the south-east of Lyon.
January 10th 1972: creation of the public corporation of installation of Isle-in Abeau (EPIDA)
August 11th 1972: creation of the Community trade union of installation (SCANIDA), gathering 21 communes (Bourgoin-Jallieu, Chamagnieu, Domarin, Furnace, Frontonas, Grenay, Isle-with Abeau , Panossas, Rock, Ruy, Saint-Alban-of-Rock, Saint-Chief, Saint-Hilaire-with-Brens, Saint-Marcel-Beautiful-Reception, Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, Saint-Savin, Satolas-and-Bonce, Vaulx-Medium, Vénérieu, Verpillière, Villefontaine)
1983: the law Rocard amends of the new cities. Sixteen communes leave the new city of Isle-in Abeau
1984: the five remaining communes form the Syndicat of new agglomeration which replaces the SCA.
2007 : the community of agglomeration carries isère east creates and the commune of the isle of abeau joined 19 other communes within the CAPI.

Following dissensions within the Municipal council, the mayor Alain Rossot resigned. The municipal election which was followed from there saw to be opposed 4 lists at the time of the first turn, on June 10th, 2007. Mr. Alain Collomb-Bouvard (PS) is elected on June 17th vis-a-vis the lists led by the outgoing mayor (supported by PRG) and a Right Divers list.
