Islands of the Probe

The islands of the Probe are a Archipel of the the West Indies. One traditionally divides them into two groups: large islands of the Probe and small islands of the Probe.

Their name comes from Sunda , which indicates the country of the Sundanais which populate the Western part of the island of Java. Sunda also gave its name to the strait which separates Java from Sumatra, the Détroit of the Probe.

By extension, one includes sometimes in the islands of the Probe of other close islands, in particular Borneo among the large islands of the Probe and Timor in the small islands of the Probe.

Large islands of the Probe

One thus calls the islands of Sumatra and Java.

Small islands of the Probe

The Small islands of the Probe , in indonésien Nusa Tenggara , indicate the south of the central part of the archipelago Indonesia N. They are administratively divided between the provinces indonésiennes of Bali, Nusa Tenggara Western and Nusa Tenggara Is and the Republic of the Timor-Eastern .
