Islands of the Company
The Îles of the Company form a Archipel located in the south of the Pacific Ocean, belonging to the French Polynésie. The islands of the Company are divided into two groups: the Windward Islands and the Leeward Islands. One speaks the Tahitien there (reo Tahiti).
History
It is James Cook which, in 1769, explores the islands surrounding Tahiti and baptizes the " unit; Archipelago of Société" in homage to the Royal Company of London which financed forwarding.
