Islam in Morocco

The Islam is the religion most applied to the Morocco, with a share of 98.7% of the Moroccan population.

History

Islam was introduced in Morocco for the first time in 670 by the Arab general Oqba Ibn Nafaa, sent by the Omeyyades. In 788, the Idrissides were the first Moslem dynasty to reign on the Morocco. After having adopted Islam, several Berbères forms their own Islamic dynasties and reigns above the country. The majority the Berber ones converted with Islam after more Arabs bring to Morocco them Moslem culture and their habits. Islam since remained the official Religion.
