Isidore Odorico
Mosaïste resulting from a dynasty of Italian craftsmen, Isidore Odorico was born in 1893 and deceased in 1945. Installed with Rennes, it carried out with its workshop, following his father, a very great mosaic number of decorations of primarily in the West of France.

The brothers Isidore (father) (born in 1845) and Vincent Odorico come from Sequals, in the province of Pordenone in Italy. They take part in the building site of the Opéra Garnier with Paris under the direction of famous the mosaïste Italian Gian Domenico Facchina. They then settle in family with Tours in 1881. In 1882, the brothers join to found their own company with Rennes.
They use a traditional technique come from their country of origin, in an area not having any tradition of mosaic: success is all the more fulgurating. The manufacturing costs are however tiny room thanks to the use of enamel and with techniques of innovating installations.
Very good craftsmen, they answer many orders placed in general by the architects diocesans of Ille-et-Vilaine and the Coast-of-North at the end of XIXe and beginning of the XXe century, for the realization of decorations of churches and vaults. They work most of the time starting from paperboards drawn by painters.
Biography of Isidore Odorico Wire
Isidore Odorico wire for its part follows studies to the School of the Art schools of Rennes of 1908 to 1913. He takes again the company after the First World War, develops the workshop considerably and works on many building sites, particularly between 1920 and 1936.
Having an artistic formation, it then develops a real work of creation in its reasons, often inspired by the Art déco under development full.
He collaborates with various architects for several their projects: the regional architect of the postal and telecommunications authorities Laloy for several stations in Brittany, or Roger Jusserand with Angers in particular for its most famous building: the " House bleue". Rennes becomes thus one of the greatest production centres of mosaic of France in the inter-war period and one counts works of the Odorico workshop in 122 cities of the great West.
