Ishinomaki

Ishinomaki (石巻市, Ishinomaki-shi ) is a city (市, shi ) of the Préfecture of Miyagi, with the Japan. The city was founded on April 1st, 1933. April 1st, 2005, the boroughs of Kahoku, Kanan, Kitakami, Monou, Ogatsu (District of Monou) and Oshika (District of Oshika) were integrated into Ishinomaki. Population of the east city of 168.774 inhabitants for a surface of 555.36 km ² (2005).

The town of Ogatsu which is now in Ishinomaki is famous for the stones intended to contain the Indian ink that it fabrique.
Ishinomaki shelters the counterpart with the real size of the San Juan Bautista , Galion Japanese which was useful has Masamune Date ( daimyo of Sendai) to send an ambassador to the pope directed by Tsunenaga Hasekura in 1613.

One finds in Ishinomaki one of the largest fish market of the world.

Ishinomaki is twinned with Civitavecchia in Italy.
