Inuvik

Inuvik is a city of the Territoires of the North-West in Canada which is populated of 3.450 inhabitants. Founded in 1953 with an aim of rempalcer Aklavik in the west of the Delta of Mackenzie, its name means the place of the man in Inuvialuktun.

Inuvik acquired the statute the village in 1967 then the statute of city in 1970. In 1979, when the Autoroute Dempster is supplemented, Inuvik is connected to the Canadian highway system. Because of its coordinates géographiqes, Inuvik enlightened during 56 days of the summer and is continuously darkened continuously during 30 days of the winter.

The building more photographed city is the church Our-Lady-of-Victories, which is built in form of Iglou. The festival of great Scandinavian arts is an major event which is held during ten days in the middle of July since 1989.
